Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. It talked about things you have told us. Like how short their life is except for the super ones that live long enough to migrate to central Mexico. Other things too you have said. Ardyth, I mentioned this earlier in the week. I think it’s probably when you were having trouble with your internet. Or when you were in the mode of trying to cut down on your chat. Anyway, I have been following it very closely. I feel like it’s Jackie who is at a care facility or somewhere being attended to. She hasn’t been seen hardly at all for the last 4 or 5 days, and then only a little more than that just two weeks ago. 😰😥😭
I saw a couple of videos today Lady Bug the sub adults are raising hell, and fighting I saw a video of Jackie feet locked with one of them. Then the guy who made the video his name is Paul. He was there and filmed Jackie on the ground she was walking around but got up and flew off with no apparent injuries the sub adults where still in the area so maybe something happened later when they were fighting again?
Hi julie, hard to say what happened, but it’s not like Jackie to not be around her kids at all for 3 weeks. And I did see David James video of her being hit by the sub adult and of her kind of having trouble even walking, but she did fly though it was low. I think it’s kind of a coincidence that she’s having this problem, yet there’s an eagle being cared for. Who knows? But I am praying. 🙏
The sub adults are like 4 and 3 1/2 years old might as be adults-they want to take over the territory, by size you can tell ones a female
I agree, they look like a possible couple soon to be. I had to leave for a minute and go check out the info posted by Deb’s Stycek about Scout. I follow that nest.
