Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. FYI: This just in: Friends of Big Bear Valley confirm, the rescued bald eagle is Jackie. Evidently she got onto a boat after wading thru water, and was fairly easily rescued in early morning.
One of the world news had the video of Jackie swimming to the boat. They didn’t know for sure at the time if it was Mackie. But my thought was, the eagle swam toward the boat? Like she trusted humans? Do you know what happened to her, how she got hurt?
Debbie, i saw that sad scene too, CBS I think, and that was my exact thought, that she trusts humans and wanted help. I don’t think she’s afraid of humans any more. Everything I’ve seen
and heard indicates they think she was injured by other bald eagles.
I hope they help her and she comes back to her nest. I just can’t get over her swimming directly to that boat. She must have an injured wing and could not fly because otherwise she looked strong.
I know, it was pretty amazing. She must have something wrong with her wings. Or maybe she’s just totally exhausted. One of the people interviewed said that she was a little underweight and dehydrated.

Sometimes when you have dieted for a long time, you crave the things you didn’t eat for a long time. For me that hot dog and potato salad sound better than a steak!

Made some phone calls today-just things I had to do, played the on hold game, Then I noticed my neighbor across the street was having some trouble so I went over and talked to him.
