Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Olive had a feather on her beak and had a little trouble getting it off! 😁
Pretty pictures. 😊
Julie called they are coming home tomorrow, there is a snowstorm coming to Madison today. She talked to Gery last night. Judy is going to the house this morning to see to Jade, then to the bar to watch the Packers game. Gery got the title to Michael’s truck and will be taking it back to Madison. Michael just did verbal things about wanting Gery to have the truck and house.
glad she’s coming home soon to be with her kitty 💕
Yay! So happy to hear that!
Good late morning…i’ve done a bit more decorating this morning…set out things in the dining room and kitchen…set out my Christmas books in the library, reindeer on the mantel, etc…waiting for DH to move the tree into the corner…he’ll have to take out the chair that we are getting rid of..and move the old desk somewhere (it was my grandma’s and years ago thought my sister wanted it but would be hard to get it there…it’s not in that good of shape so..but hard to just get rid of and Dh puts his “stuff” on it when he comes home… Read more »
Good morning Lynn. I bet all your decorations are beautiful. I like the style of your decorations, I can’t think right now of the word I want to describe it. But it is so pretty. It is hard to get rid of things that have been in our life so long. Maybe your sister can come up with a way to transport it. You have such wonderful markets in your town. The flavored popcorn sounds delicious.
I’m thinking she doesn’t want it anymore…I think of my style as…country/cottage, some rustic like on my tree, and old fashioned don’t like modern decorating or really modern houses.
Thanks Lynn I like that style too.
I agree 100%. I am old fashioned, too. I have some old things , chinaware and old books from my ancestors, some is several hundred years old, like a very old big bible which i have. I had to clean its bible-pages with a small paint brush from ashes, which got there when the forefathers had it opened in their kitchens with hearth fire. I also have an old collection of magazines casebound like a book, there is an article about the first transatlantic telegraph cable to america , which happened right then, when this old magazine was printed. This… Read more »
Oh wow Gabi that is fascinating! You must treasure these things. What year was the transatlantic cable laid? Think about it, that would be the first time Europeans and Americans could communicate in a short time. Even mail had to go by unmotorized boat.
I found this: The first transatlantic cable was laid in 1858, but it only worked for a few weeks before failing. A more permanent and reliable cable was successfully laid in 1866 after several years of further attempts. ……….. so that was just after the American Civil War ended. Lincoln was probably still president when it started.
I was born in 1958, 100 years after the cable, good grief !🙂.
It was 1858, oh i just see your post about it. Yes, cable got messed up again . Lincoln died in 1865, just googled him. He was born into poverty in kentucky, ….
Googled more : 1850 : first german steamship to new york.
So I guess steamship is considered motorized. So they did have a motorized ship to help.
I dont remember if a steamship helped the cable, but they started to have steamships going from europe to usa.
The Bible sounds beautiful!
Thank you karen.
Oh you’re welcome 🙂. I bet that is a cherished item. I don’t know what happened to our family Bible.
It is in “old german lettering”. The cover is from wood, wood is covered with leather. Old ! And cherished.
Oh my. Sounds SO beautiful. You are taking such good care of it. 🙏
The cover is not in perfect shape any more, because its so old.
I tried to fix and sew the leather, but still not perfect.
The holy scripture deserves good care.
Amen. I’m sure you are trying everything you can to keep your Bible in as good a condition as you you can, @Www 😍. I’m hoping that we will come up with more things that we can use to keep them in decent shape maybe, or even restore them to original condition. That second part probably won’t happen, but I can dream.
I hope you have a happy night. 🤗
Good night karen.
I like southwestern
So that is what flavored popcorn is. Hmmm .. 🤔
i wondered too😁
my mom used to buy tins of the popcorn that is separated into three parts..regular, cheese, caramel and gave them to us every Christmas…I have most of the tins and store Christmas ornaments in them. She got them at Walmart, Kmart, farm store, wherever.
that all sounds wonderful, Gabi…DS is doing well…he was recently in New Zealand, Australia, Columbia, Hong Kong, for races.
He gets around and is seeing the world!
Southwestern sounds good to me too.
Good morning Bella Buds. About 40, partly sunny. Not sure what I will get into today. I have to redo Casey’s “treat” box which involves cracking walnuts with a hammer! 😁. I need to cook some kind of meat. Ho hum. I don’t have much on my mind in the mornings do I? Y’all have a good day.
Good morning, Debbie…I’m too lazy for that, lol..I’d just buy the unsalted walnuts at the farm supply store.
I buy walnuts in the shell in bulk this time of year while they are fresh, freeze and vacuum seal enough for the year.
well, maybe you can think of someone you are mad at and then bang, bang, bang with the hammer!!
😁😂
I just now had a BIG plate of sauerkraut and potatoes. Good grief, wonder how it will work inside my gut. 💨💨💨💨😵💫. Am i a Kraut now ? Hahaha.
It is healthy for your gut!
Yeah, but i ate too much of it. I feel like it is inflating me.
That is the pre- and pro-biopics doing their job.
Post/afterbiotics on the way out…🤣.
Julie: Gm back road behind house
nice..do you know when she’s coming home?
Tomorrow.
Nice pic.
Good morning………At 3:00 AM
I just noticed Roger was acting weird in the hallway.
I discovered blood on his neck. I washed it off and he ran down the hall and on the bed so i woke Rick up.
He has blood on my comforter, the white side!!!!! He seems to have a tiny hole with blood coming out, maybe
he has an abscess, or he scratched it or got into a fight???
Rick will check him better in the morning.
Good morning Ardy. Wonder what Roger got in to. Let us know later what y’all think. How are you feeling today?
aw, poor Roger..
Oh no, I hope he is ok. 😥
Sorry for roger, sorry also for the blood stains.
Me and dd once had a rabbit. I had such a nice white throw for dd’s bed. Hoppl(rabbits name) jumped on bed and peed on throw. I washed throw, back on dd bed. After 2 minutes the hoppl jumps on bed again and peed on throw. I wash throw….🤨. This was long ago.
Good evening, ladies. I have been preparing my Walmart order almost all day, but I have also been watching YouTube videos at the same time. 🤯 I saw a guy named Plumes, who sings and plays music for animals. Elephants, lions, and others. They love it! Something heartwarming to check out if you want. 😍 I have the order coming at 11 am and then I will leave at 1 pm to get the other stuff, like a new jacket for Dutchess, some new towels, etc. Great amounts of money being spent! 😱 I hope you are all well. I… Read more »
Hi Karen. So, is Walmart delivering your order? On a Sunday? So then you are going out to do more shopping? I’ve never had a Kroger or Walmart delivery, put I’ve done many Kroger pickups. Where do you shop for Dutchess? Oh no, great amounts of money being spent! I’ve been spending some money too.
Hey Debbie. Yes Walmart will be delivering my order at 11:00. Then I’ll hurry up and put away what I can and we will go and get some more stuff. Walmart has done deliveries for me for a couple of years now. And we just did get a King Soopers in this area, so I might try having them deliver soon. I think they are more expensive though. I do Dutchess shopping wherever I can, based on price and sometimes quality. But I can’t do it via delivery, so I will go to Walmart first and then probably end up… Read more »
So you will get a Walmart delivery and do in person shopping too? Bet it is because there are some things you want to pick out yourself. We don’t have anything in this area of the country call King Soopers. I just looked them up, they are a Colorado store. I hope you find a nice sweater for your baby.
Yes, some things I want to pick out for myself. And, King Soopers is actually Kroger. I think everything on this side of the Mississippi is King Soopers, and on the other side it’s Kroger. Not sure about the dividing line though.
I wondered if it was a division of Kroger. I think Fry’s is too?
I’m not familiar with them. I have only heard them mentioned a couple of times in my whole life, but I don’t remember who mentioned them, or why.
Over here all stores are closed on sundays. Restaurants are open and some pharmacies and dentists are on standby, but not in every town. When sick, ➡️ hospital ER. I think it is good that way, we can shop from monday to saturday, and people and staff also need a break. Our stores are closed at night, too. Some are open late until 10 pm, but most close at 8 pm or earlier. Fine with me. When i was young, all stores closed at 6 pm and on saturday at 12noon or the latest was 2 pm. So many ads… Read more »
Hi Gabi and good afternoon to you. I remember in my youth when it was like you said on Sunday. Restaurants open but I don’t think Pharmacies or dentists. Now everything is open. I think when I was a kid few women worked. That was the big difference. So women could get things done on week days. Now most women work. Hard to do shopping, get the car fixed, buy the kids clothes, be home when a repair person comes on a weekday. So gradually more and more things were done, open on weekend.
I understand. Most women work , too, over here. They have no choice but to do their stuff within these hours. When i still worked, i used overtime or 1 day of my annual leave, when the car problem or repair person problem came up. Thank God that wasnt too often. The other shopping stuff had to happen on the way home from work or using overtime. Debbie, not all the pharmacies and dentists are open on weekends, its like only 1 in a large area. Could need to drive relatively far, to get there. But it is a different… Read more »
I did similar to you. It was easier somewhat for me because Jo worked part time for most of the time, usually having one or two week days off. She would do some things on her days off. Of course I had to take leave for some doctors appointments. Some things needed to be done just once a year, like mammogram and eyes. And some could be scheduled after work since I got off at 3. I often worked way past 3 but could leave on the days necessary. I imagine you having couch time with hubby now. Enjoy.
No couch time yet. I still had to raise my dd , too, i was single-parenting.
When i was on laboratory-nightshift, weekend work or during normal work hours, i had a babysitter, which i payed for. Later on dd went to kindergarten and then school.
I made a reply to lynn some below. Maybe you like to read.
It is always hard on single parents, but look what you have now!
Yeah, a little monster, lolol.
Naaaaah, a nice middle- aged lady, i love her so much.
I know you do. And she loves you. A very good girl.
😘 thank you.
