Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Good Morning Lynn😍 Happy VD enjoy your walks today💖
Good morning Lynn. Enjoy the dog walks in the nice weather.
Good Morning We got some rain yesterday and during the night last night but not like they predicted and no thunder either…disappointing. It was cooler yesterday…..I did go for a walk in the morning….first one of the year. Cold this morning too. The first thing I saw on FB this morning was they had some roads blocked off for Nancy’s investigation and just up the hill from us as we say. Then I see the FBI was at Culvers and had a vehicle of interest…..now that is even closer, probably a mile away. They have determined that the back pack… Read more »
I saw that last night before falling asleep but nothing new this morning. Happy Valentine’s day, Ardy
Happy ♥ day Lynn
Just seeing this on the news right now- it did cross my mind about the backpack and wondered if that was the one you shop at, but then again there are lots of WM’s, they have to check out the nearest ones to the crime scean
Good morning Ardy, hope the rain you need comes your way. Glad you are getting back to your morning walks, maybe it is safer out there for you with the drug house gone. Sorry you lost your church friend. Sure wish they find that low life who has Nancy, and bring her home. I feel so for the family and her.
Happy day to all !
Happy 💘 Day GABI

Hi Gabi and Happy Valentine’s Day Habibi. Do German’s have this day, or one like it?
Yes, we have valentines day, too.
But my DH seems not to be into it. I never got a card or anything. So I am not really into it either. But DD called me from work , to wish me a happy valentines day. Maybe its more for younger people over here.
But my american friends didnt forget me for valentine and galentine, so this makes me happy. THANK YOU !
😁🥰. You have a lot of love in your family, that is what matters. I don’t know the “culture” of it in Germany. I think in this country most men wish there was no Valentines Day. My poor Dad had a hard time with days like Christmas, birthday, Valentines. In his mind he brought his pay check home, handed it to my Mom. She went shopping, bought nice things for herself. He didn’t understand she wanted things from him, because he went out to get it for her. My Dad worked 6 days a week, long hours, except when the… Read more »
My dad worked in the local post office. I remember monday to friday. My grand dad worked in a post office, too. My great granddad was a letter carrier. (All those are from my father side of family). Great granddad walked from village to village to bring mail. He walked many miles each day. There was a bridge over a creek, where he took a break and ate something. He sharpened his knife (used it to eat) on one of the stones of the bridge when he sat there. This knife -sharpening -spot was visible for many years and my… Read more »
What a lovely story Gabi, good memories. Your Dad sure walked a lot, but I love the story about the knife sharpening, and showing it to his little girl. How your Dad and Mom handled the paycheck money was like my sister Nancy, except they used Envelopes to put the money in for the bills. My parents just used the checking account, deposited the money and wrote checks for bills. I agree with the commerce part of holidays, especially Christmas. Maybe it is good for children, I remember the excitement. But not needed for married adults and older people. Most… Read more »
Great granddad was the walking and knife sharpening letter carrier. Long long ago. My father showed me the knife spot much later.
My dad was working inside the post office and had his own office there. He had a very good position there.
Check writing was not common here.
And yes!! That was so good, the way you laughed on the video. That was a pleasure to see and to hear.😃.
Debbie, i still said something about a roach.
Its a reply to myself, starts with :still this…
Will shut down soon, looking whats on tv.
I understand now about great granddad. I bet that rock had a special meaning to your grandfather, father, and now you! Good memories. Here in the US your Dad’s job is a good job too. Check writing has been all my life here. Nancy is 7 years older than me, so maybe it was less important in her early years.
A few years ago i was again in this bridge area while visiting the area my dad came from. Some hours away from where i am now. And booohooo, the bridge was remodeled and those old rocks were thrown down in the creek. 😬, but at least i saw it as a kid.
I know the checkwriting only from movies. They pull out the checkbook and ask:”babe, how much you want?” Hmmmm, 1000 bucks.
Hmmm, alright. Lolol.
So nancy is around 77 or 78 ?
Oh Gabi I’m sorry about the bridge area. Wish you could have at least got a photo before the bridge was changed. So Germany doesn’t use checks? I still write a few checks, mostly to pay something by mail or send someone money. Most bills I pay online and I use my credit card for most purchases in stores or cash for small things. Nancy turns 80 I’m May.
No picture of bridge. Just memories.
Checks not common from what i know.
I pay bills cash or bank transfer. I dont do online banking.
In stores i pay cash. Many people still pay cash here.
I don’t know about bank transfer but maybe similar to checks. A check is basically a piece of paper that takes money out of one person’s bank and puts it in another person’s bank.
Bank transfer : You order your bank to transfer the money from your account to the other. Cashless.
So you have to contact your bank?
Yes.
A lot of things or bills are still paid in cash though. Fine with me.
For example: car needed repair-i pay cash in the car‐repair place. When i have professional tooth- cleaning , then i pay cash at the dentist office when i am done. Etc. .
This is surprising to me, but it is common in your country.
Yes, but i think that things will change slowly but surely to online payments like in your country. A mobile phone will be needed for everything. I dont even have one, lol. NOT that i couldnt buy one, but i just dont care for it.
Still this:
Mom was housekeeper in doctor family, like i had said.
During and after war there was only very little to eat. They ate dumplings at doctor family and a roach was inside a dumpling. No idea how this happened.
They took it out and ate this dumpling anyway. They were so hungry.
Mom told me that.
Oh dear Gabi your parents! Do you know the year it was this bad? I have never known hunger in my life except when dieting, sell imposed! But my parents did.
Hunger was bad during ww2 and after it. When i was a kid, my parents didnt have a lot of money. They were still paying the house. Dads income got much better later. I remember, when we ate typical german supper (dark bread, butter, sausage, cheese…), mom cut thin slices of cheese and we had either cheese or sausage. Later we had both. On sundays, when my mom toasted white bread, we put butter and salt on it. And we had an egg for everybody. Oh oh, the good old days, but i was happy. We were not hungry then… Read more »
Lots of young families struggle in their early years. Lower wages when you are young, new house payments. You need everything for the home, you haven’t accumulated things. Children grow, need bigger clothes and shoes. And in Germany a war in your homeland just ended. This bad period in the US actually happened from about 1929 until the war started. I’m glad you were not hungry. I hope your parents were not.
My parents were hungry. Mom was thin after war.
My dad also when he was a prisoner of war, when he escaped and then after war. But those times are over…🙂.
Oh your poor dad! Sounds like he was a hero.
He was my hero as a dad when i was a kid.
Later on we sometimes had difficulties, too. Normal i guess. Nothing that lasted forever.
Yep, war times and those memories were hard for him.
I feel love for my parents and wish, they still would be here.❤❤.
I understand all you say Gabi. Hugs for you. I feel your love for them.
Thank you debbie.
Happy Valentine’s / Galentine’s Day
Lol, the galentine clowder.🐈🐈🐈⬛🙂.
Happy weekend pam.
Happy Valentine’s/Galentine’s day! 💕
Thank you and to you, too.
….and happy valentines day.💟.
I’ve been reading the beginning of FOBBV. Sandy said, “I just wanted to see in the nest”. She sure was a sweetheart.
Indeed, she was a gift.
