Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

❣️Update on eaglet Snow. Bones continue to heal. Still on respiratory meds just to make sure problems don’t come back. Results from lead testing still pending, but not too worried about. And . . .drum roll . . . Snow is a girl. Parents still visiting the collapsed nest.

It sounds just right, Lynn. I really enjoy looking at cars, particularly 60s-70s muscle cars. And of course I do like to stuff my face. 🤣

Yes, and I come home so tired! I usually put up things like frozen and perishables, wait til later to put up produce, canned, stuff that can sit out awhile. Then later I put most of the produce in the fridge. Talking to Nancy took extra time that I usually don’t do on our trip days, but she was on the landline answering machine and I thought I should call.

Yes, she is having something called the Watchman put in her heart Aug 4. It is a rather simple thing, takes about 45 minutes to do. They go through a vein they probably access in the groin, like when they do a heart Cath or heart ablation. It is really safe, you can sorta compare also to having a stent placed in an artery. The purpose is to prevent a blood clot caused by AFIB that could lead to a stroke. It allows you to transition from taking a blood thinner to just taking a baby aspirin, if the AFIB… Read more »

Good eve . . ning . . As Lurch would say. It is better than my day, though. We arrived at the car repair shop for them to recompress the air conditioner, which does not work at all now. They were kind enough to drive us home. And we were supposed to pick it up between 1:30 and 2:00. But I got a call at about 11:00 saying that we probably would not have the car back until sometime next week and the bill would probably be about $1500. He had noticed that the battery was on its way out… Read more »

Hi Karen Marie,It’s good the guy will try to make it work, but what a unexpected exspence. I’m sorry to hear about it usually its a tube that’s plugged with the AC. Did the floor in your car get wet? that means the tube-hose is clogged. Are they going to have it fixed so you have it for next week? sending you a hug Lady Bug🤗🐞

Hi Lynn. 🤗 True, I used to go to the dealer or big shops, who coordinated rental car service. But this is a small town Mom and Pop type place, run by 5 guys. I was surprised they offered “shuttle” service. They are not too expensive and I trust them more than the big boys.

Oh wow Karen, what a stressful day. So to see if I got it right, his original estimate was$1500 just to fix the AC? But later he came down to $600, and that was everything? Including battery, cables, and wiring destroyed by wildlife. What kind of vehicle is this?

Karen Marie

😄 it’s a 2008 Ford Focus. Small car. The original estimate was $350 to fix the AC then it went up to 1500, and then yes back down to 600. I know I don’t quite have all the details right, probably because I was so upset. But I will get it all straight.

The reason I asked about your car was because we found out Toyota had a lot of trouble with wildlife, especially squirrels, eating wiring. Turns out the rubber outside of the wiring was made out of soy and the animals liked chewing on them. Jo has a Scion and they are made by Toyota, or were. I don’t think they make Scions any more, Jo’s Scion is a 2006. The squirrels chewed a wire under the hood the first time which was not expensive to fix. Then they chewed another wire where they had to drain the gas tank, remove… Read more »

here’s what I do…start or end , or both, with a compliment..like what a pretty cat, dog, etc..then I say “I’m sure you don’t realize this but….blah blah blah..all in a nice respectful way…sometimes that works pretty well..if you don’t and just blow up it might not be good.

The best advice I ever got was my first year to teach. The guidance counselor told me when I talk to a parent about her kid, no matter how bad the kid is, try to find something good to say to the parents in the beginning. It may be hard, but try to find something.
