Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

❣️Update on eaglet Snow. Bones continue to heal. Still on respiratory meds just to make sure problems don’t come back. Results from lead testing still pending, but not too worried about. And . . .drum roll . . . Snow is a girl. Parents still visiting the collapsed nest.
🙏 thanks
You’re welcome. She is so cute.
I saw some of this on Facebook.
It has become such a story of hope.
Rick made stuffed peppers and I a off to bed to catch Andy and Barnie
Yum. Sleep good. 🤗 Say hi to Andy and Barney for me. I’m going to watch Dutton Ranch.
😋
Hi Lynn. Did you cruise and see some good art?
well, we walked around, saw cars, art, crafts, food..didn’t have a lot of time because of my petsitting job but it was enough time
It sounds just right, Lynn. I really enjoy looking at cars, particularly 60s-70s muscle cars. And of course I do like to stuff my face. 🤣
I will watch it tomorrow. Can’t wait! My favorite show now!
😅 My fav too!
Oh those look good. I have the frozen Stouffers version in the freezer, but I’m sure they don’t hold a candle to Rick’s. Yum.
I talked to Nancy and haven’t had supper so I need to eat before I respond to any more posts. I’ll be back a little later.
Take care of yourself, Debbie. I know what you mean — the day kind of got away from me, too. 😜
Yes, and I come home so tired! I usually put up things like frozen and perishables, wait til later to put up produce, canned, stuff that can sit out awhile. Then later I put most of the produce in the fridge. Talking to Nancy took extra time that I usually don’t do on our trip days, but she was on the landline answering machine and I thought I should call.
You’re a good sister. You should sleep good tonight.
So is Nancy.
I’m assuming Nancy is okay, or you would have said something. Right?
Yes, she is having something called the Watchman put in her heart Aug 4. It is a rather simple thing, takes about 45 minutes to do. They go through a vein they probably access in the groin, like when they do a heart Cath or heart ablation. It is really safe, you can sorta compare also to having a stent placed in an artery. The purpose is to prevent a blood clot caused by AFIB that could lead to a stroke. It allows you to transition from taking a blood thinner to just taking a baby aspirin, if the AFIB… Read more »
Oh my. That is a good thing, then. I remember when my husband had stents put in his heart. They helped a lot, but this seems much better.
They are different things but the procedures are sorta the same.
Going to finish cooking so I can lay down, I did a lot of bending today. Have a very good night and sleep well😘
Good night Julie, enjoy your food.
Sleep well and hope you arent sore in the am
Rest well, sweetie. Hope your back is okay. 😍
I’m making some dinner Orange ginger chicken and veggies over rice
yum
Rick stuffed bell peppers,cooking now
I haven’t had stuffed peppers in a long time that sounds so good😋
Stouffers makes good frozen ones, but I’m sure nothing like Rick’s.
Excellent choice. I will be craving that all night!! Hopefully you will have enough for 2 meals. 🤣
Nope just one I’m using up left overs to make it
😋
Oh yum. I had Chinese too. I’ll enjoy it tomorrow more than tonight because I was so tired. Did you make your chicken from scratch or a kit? There are some really good frozen Chinese things.
Good eve . . ning . . As Lurch would say. It is better than my day, though. We arrived at the car repair shop for them to recompress the air conditioner, which does not work at all now. They were kind enough to drive us home. And we were supposed to pick it up between 1:30 and 2:00. But I got a call at about 11:00 saying that we probably would not have the car back until sometime next week and the bill would probably be about $1500. He had noticed that the battery was on its way out… Read more »
Oh Karen, what a stressful day for you♥
Oh, it was Ardyth. Thank you. I have made it a point to stay away from husband and Dutchess, lest I take it out on them. 😘
Good idea :)
Hi Karen Marie,It’s good the guy will try to make it work, but what a unexpected exspence. I’m sorry to hear about it usually its a tube that’s plugged with the AC. Did the floor in your car get wet? that means the tube-hose is clogged. Are they going to have it fixed so you have it for next week? sending you a hug Lady Bug🤗🐞
Thanks, Butterfly 🦋 😍. No wetness anywhere. He said he will make sure I have it for my doctor’s appointment. They have an excellent reputation and have been in business here for 63 years, so I feel okay about it at this point.
Thats great to hear😘
sorry about that Karen…some places give you a car to use until yours is fixed, at least they did that for my mom.
Hi Lynn. 🤗 True, I used to go to the dealer or big shops, who coordinated rental car service. But this is a small town Mom and Pop type place, run by 5 guys. I was surprised they offered “shuttle” service. They are not too expensive and I trust them more than the big boys.
It is good you found a repair shop like that.
Oh yes. I had heard about them for years, but never had a need.
Oh Karen, I’m so sorry about all this hullaballoo; seems like when it rains it pours. 🙏{{HUGS}}
🤗 I was about in tears, Pam. A girl can only take so much. But I started watching my gorilla buddies on YouTube this evening and decided it could be worse. Thank you for the 🤗s 🙏s. I did say quite a few prayers.
Oh wow Karen, what a stressful day. So to see if I got it right, his original estimate was$1500 just to fix the AC? But later he came down to $600, and that was everything? Including battery, cables, and wiring destroyed by wildlife. What kind of vehicle is this?
😄 it’s a 2008 Ford Focus. Small car. The original estimate was $350 to fix the AC then it went up to 1500, and then yes back down to 600. I know I don’t quite have all the details right, probably because I was so upset. But I will get it all straight.
The reason I asked about your car was because we found out Toyota had a lot of trouble with wildlife, especially squirrels, eating wiring. Turns out the rubber outside of the wiring was made out of soy and the animals liked chewing on them. Jo has a Scion and they are made by Toyota, or were. I don’t think they make Scions any more, Jo’s Scion is a 2006. The squirrels chewed a wire under the hood the first time which was not expensive to fix. Then they chewed another wire where they had to drain the gas tank, remove… Read more »
The guy who walks his cats just walked by, I bit my lip and didn’t yell at him. It was all I could do to not go talk to him and tell him what I think. Hope he gets rained on😟really stressed me out-I had been thinking what I was going to say to him all day..
I know how you feel
I chickened out😖 I’m mad at myself for chickening out
Easier to keep the peace…..sigh
and just as I’m looking out my window he’s going by with them again but there’s only one and that’s not a good sign one of them might of caught something😫
I don’t think you chickened out. Maybe he learned already.
Well, you have to live in that neighborhood; best to be careful. People today are bonkers and not in a good way
I really understand. So no cats with him? Maybe you yelling at him earlier taught him a lesson.
The cats were with him if they killed one more thing I would of blown my top for sure
I’m glad you didn’t see anything bad.
wise choice
Maybe he just needs somebody to talk to him and explain the way it is. That some people actually think all animals are special.he sounds ignorant.
here’s what I do…start or end , or both, with a compliment..like what a pretty cat, dog, etc..then I say “I’m sure you don’t realize this but….blah blah blah..all in a nice respectful way…sometimes that works pretty well..if you don’t and just blow up it might not be good.
That sounds good to me, Lynn. 😉
The best advice I ever got was my first year to teach. The guidance counselor told me when I talk to a parent about her kid, no matter how bad the kid is, try to find something good to say to the parents in the beginning. It may be hard, but try to find something.
