Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

I cannot find the note that somebody wrote to me about type 2 diabetes. I developed it from taking large doses of Prednisone for a few years due to Asthma. I couldn’t get off of it and still be able to breathe. Until they found Fasenra. They gave me three doses in an 8 week period. I was able to get off the Prednisone, which allowed me to lose 103 pounds. My A1C has been 3.4 to 3.6 ever since. That was 15 years ago. I eat whatever I want and take no insulin or other drugs. 😍

That was me. You said below you were the diabetic. I guess I thought you were saying now so that is why I thought you had reversed that. Well you have and I’m glad. So do you still take that medicine, the Fasenra?

No, 8 weeks gave me enough breathing support to kick the Prednisone. It was all only possible because I wasn’t a real diabetic. I did lose weight way too fast, though. 😒

I was actually spending $800-1,000 per month on insulin while taking Prednisone. .

I urge everyone not to take it unless they have to. I have heard it described as “the best worst drug there is”.

For rheumatoid flare ups. I don’t really have what I think are flares. I told her my rheumatoid isn’t a lot worse one day or the other. I can weather can affect it some. I’m not for taking much medicine that is just a temporary improvement. Well, when I’ve had bad temporary pain after surgery, but not too much for everyday pain.

oh! I see now, it wasn’t really type 2 that you had…it was steroid induced diabetes Steroid-induced diabetes is a form of high blood sugar that develops in people who take corticosteroid medications like prednisone or dexamethasone. It can appear in someone with no prior history of diabetes, and it often resolves once the steroid is stopped. But while the steroids are active in your body, blood sugar levels can climb high enough to require monitoring and treatment just like type 2 diabetes. so it mimics type 2 and only stays in the body as long as the steroid is… Read more »

Deborah, i’m sorry you have to have those injections. They certainly don’t make it easy. 😥

They just started here, kind of figuring out about this steroid induced thing a couple years ago. Every time I have gone to the hospital for the past few years and I tell them that I no longer have diabetes, they all look at me like I’m crazy. They say, okay honey.

maybe if you tell them it was steroid induced diabetes they would understand better, which it should already say that in your records, I also had gestational diabetes with my last 3 kids and when that happens the diabetes goes away after the baby is born, so I didn’t develop type two until I was in my 50’s

So you are a type 2 diabetic. Is it hard to control?

Deborah
August 13, 2026 10:59 pm
Reply to  KyDebbie

yes I am, controlling it depends on what kind of will power you have, I follow a very precise eating pattern, and it works well for me, my ex controls his even better, but he actually walks so many miles a day and I don’t really get any exercise other than daily activities, he can keep his A1C at like 5.2 when he really works at it and he doesn’t take the metformin
