You are watching a mating pair of Bald Eagles named M2(male) and F3(female). The nest and PTZ cams are located in a Loblolly pine tree near Kincaid Lake in the Kisatchie National Forest. The cams have been set-up and are maintained by the U.S. Forest service. Nesting usually starts in December followed by egg laying in mid to late January.

Boy is Anna and Louis’ oldest is one nasty baby. The poor little one can’t even move without getting bonked a number of times. The little one looks so frail I wish mom would come and bonk the oldest one a few times so it knows how it feels.

At 10:03 – 10:25 Roux ate the whole first fish of the day. Gumbo tried to go around by the rails to get some food, but Roux blocked and bonked Gumbo. Same for the 10:38 feeding of the second fish, Gumbo was bonked more and Roux was eating again, but the parent did manage to feed Gumbo, not a full crop, but a pretty good size. Nola bonks Jazz even when no food is involved. At 16:28, Nola bonked Jazz and then bonked Andrea on the head too. Both eaglets ate, but there was less food in the nest than in previous days.

Something red bounced into the E-1 nest.
The parent tried to move it but couldn’t, and it was moved further back in the nest later along with some grass. Anyone recognize what that is?

I was gone and not able to watch saw this this morning and was alarmed. It’s a bobber with fishing line attached you said it bounced in the nest. It wasn’t brought in with the fish.
It looked like someone threw it into the nest and then it bounced, but that nest is high up for that. I didn’t notice a fishing line attached. If it was attached to the fish with a fishing line, maybe the fishing line was yanked when the adult started to move the fish to the rear of the nest, and that movement pulled the bobber into the nest and then it bounced when it hit the nest. Sounds possible.
