E-1 two fish in the nest at 7:17. Roux bonking and bonking, Roux ate 1 and 3/4 fish. Stuffed. Gumbo got 1/4 of a fish. Some food in crop, but not much. Another fish at 9:40. Bonking again and again. Roux ate that whole fish too. The parent had a few bites. Gumbo nothing. Another fish brought at 16:05. Roux ate that fish too. Gumbo nothing. Roux ate 3 and 3/4 fish today which seems like an awful lot for a small eaglet. I don’t have a good feeling about this nest. This nest needs a miracle. Every feeding and… Read more »

It was better there today, Edie. Still some bonking for Gumbo, but Gumbo ate really well.

E-3 Both parents on alert at 9:09 am. Jazz was being fed fish at 10:14 – 10:24, but then the dad flew in with a huge stick and that ended that feeding. He placed the stick right on top of Jazz and was pulling it. Jazz’s wing was caught in the stick, but Jazz managed to free it. At 18:08 the mom was trying to feed Jazz. It was something so tough that it took Andrea a long time to break the tiniest pieces off. At one point the mom’s beak bonked Nola, and Nola got upset and started bonking… Read more »

E-3 Jazz was squeeing and squeeing. At 14:29, Andrea fed Jazz for one minute, but then Nola got up and bonked Jazz and that was the end of that feeding. Nola ate about 1-1/2 fish today. Jazz hadn’t eaten at all yesterday, so was really glad to see Nola go into a food coma so that Jazz got fed the other 1/2 of the fish (from 17:38 – 17:55). You could tell Jazz was full because Jazz was making little chittering noises and went right to sleep under the mom.

E-1 Not good today. Both crops flat at 12:00. Louis only brought 1 partial fish with the head already eaten at 13:15. Anna brought no food. Instead she brought some pine needles at 16:11. Roux ate all of the 1 partial fish. Gumbo didn’t eat at all, went to sleep hungry. Roux bonking Gumbo throughout the day.

At the E-3 nest did not see Jazz eat at all. Bonked by Nola and Nola got all the food. Nest is not getting stocked like it used to. Don’t know why. The food deliveries should be more now than when they were first hatched, but it’s way less.

14:22 first fish of the day (both of their crops were flat at 14:22). Roux ate the whole thing. Was bonking Gumbo before the fish delivery and during the feeding. Another fish brought at 16:22. Roux ate 2/3 of that fish too. Bonked at Gumbo to make Gumbo keep his/her head down. Gumbo got the last 1/4 to 1/3 of the fish when Roux was too full (Gumbo had only 4 minutes of feeding and the crop was nowhere near full). The mom ate a little too after feeding Roux. It seemed like she waited to feed Gumbo until Roux… Read more »
