You are watching a mating pair of Bald Eagles named M2(male) and F3(female). The nest and PTZ cams are located in a Loblolly pine tree near Kincaid Lake in the Kisatchie National Forest. The cams have been set-up and are maintained by the U.S. Forest service. Nesting usually starts in December followed by egg laying in mid to late January.

Can’t review what happened at the E1 nest prior to 5 pm. At 5 pm both E’s have flat crops. This is the 2nd day of no food for Gumbo, if Gumbo didn’t eat this morning. At the E-3 nest, both E’s had good crops this evening.
MaryNj only 2 fish were brought in and very far apart Gumbo didn’t get any of the first fish.. but Gumbo went right up on the left side of the railing and got some good bits ❤️

Yes it is .. Gumbo has learned how to sneak around to get fed. Great survival techniques ❤️❤️
Jazz showed a little courage today. Jazz was sitting peacefully and Nola moved slowly over to where Jazz was. Jazz sat up tall and snapped at Nola (instead of cowering). Nola then bonked back (a little) just to show Jazz who the boss of the nest is when the parent isn’t there.
Yes 🤣 I am hoping that jazz has finally figured out how to get fed .. like Gumbo 🙏🙏🙏
At the E-3 nest, Nola and Jazz both ate well today. Nola was letting Jazz eat and eat. Maybe Jazz is going through a growth spurt because Jazz had a huge crop and kept eating. There were four pieces of fish in the nest at one time. That’s good!

From 2 pm on – only 2 fish were brought to the E-1 nest and they were brought far apart in time. Roux was bonking, and Roux got both of the fish. Gumbo went under the mom at the second feeding, but she kept feeding Roux. Gumbo didn’t eat at all. Hope more food is brought tomorrow.

Ardyth it started out so amazing 6 huge fish in the nest before the second Egg even hatched.. Nola is a little bit aggressive. Nothing like last year though.🙏
Oh they name the eaglets here?
Yes. They gave the public the opportunity to submit names for the eaglets, and then someone chose them from the list of names submitted. It had to be something related to Louisiana.

Ardyth they used to name them before we lost the original Eagles😥 Steve and Cody the forest Rangers decided we could name the glitz this year again after three years. Here is how went.❤️

E-3 nest – Alex brought a big fish around 3 pm. Nola already had some of the fish. Andrea was feeding herself and Jazz had a flat crop and was trying to bite off pieces of the fish (self feed) at 15:24. Jazz managed to break off some tiny pieces to eat.
Then Andrea saw that Nola was sleeping and Jazz was by the fish, so she came over and began to feed Jazz. Jazz ate from 15:25 to 15:36. Then Nola came and bonked Jazz which stopped the feeding, but Jazz’s crop was already big at that point. At 17:35 Jazz did a little self feeding again until the fish flipped over. Nola was full so she let Jazz eat fish at 18:01. Jazz ate until 18:09, so Jazz ate twice today. There’s hope yet for Jazz.
Was very surprised to see Jazz snuggle up to Nola and place his/her head on Nola’s talon. I would think that after being held down by Nola’s talon and bitten all over yesterday, that Jazz would have a fear of Nola’s talons. It appeared that Nola didn’t like it, and she pulled her talon out from under Jazz’s head, but she let Jazz stay next to her.
I know what you mean 😢 same thing happens with Roux & Gumbo.. I think 🤔 they understand their placement and they may have to go without food..and they don’t dislike them or fear the older only when foods around
E-1 nest – Gumbo had a slight crop this morning, but not much. Roux ate both of the turtles. Gumbo didn’t get any. There was a visitor to the nest today. First it flew toward Gumbo.

Then it flew close to Roux
Roux didn’t like that, so Roux snapped at the butterfly
Then it landed on the nest. It only wanted to warm itself in the sunshine. Then it flew away.
I see the turtle shell are making a pile. I remember that it was that way last year.
They sure had a lot of turtles last year, but I wish they would go back to catching fish. Both E’s get to eat when there’s lots of fish.
