Kincaid Lake, Louisiana

You are watching a mating pair of Bald Eagles named M2(male) and F3(female). The nest and PTZ cams are located in a Loblolly pine tree near Kincaid Lake in the Kisatchie National Forest. The cams have been set-up and are maintained by the U.S. Forest service. Nesting usually starts in December followed by egg laying in mid to late January.

E1 nest – It looks like Gumbo got a good meal today. Yay! Crop was huge.

E-3 nest – Sadly, Jazz didn’t eat for a second day in a row because of all the attacks from Nola. There was a very bad attack this afternoon. I’m afraid that Jazz was hurt and is probably getting weaker by the day because of a lack of nutrition and hydration. I don’t think Jazz is going to make it. 😪 Maybe it’s something genetic from these two parents that causes such violent aggression from the older eaglet. Or maybe it’s conditioned reinforcement, because every time Nola attacks, Andrea feeds Nola, so Nola is getting rewarded with food for attacking… Read more »

I wish one of the adults would take that fishing line out of the nest. It’s worrisome.

It’s still there, but most of it is under grasses, so hopefully, Anna will keep putting grass on top of it..

E-3 nest – No food brought all day. Nola and Jazz had flat crops. Nola was squeeing and squeeing, and bonking Jazz more as the day went on. It was a bright sunny day and not windy, so why was there no food today? Was there some sort of human disturbance? Like something going on in the area of the lake where the Alex and Andrea normally fish? No fish, no squirrel, no loon, no nothing. Just a big mystery. I can’t tell these 2 adults apart, so I don’t know if Alex stopped by at all, or if only… Read more »

E-1 nest – I think we got the miracle that we needed today. If only it would be this way, every day. Roux was fed fish around 8 and 9 am. Roux had Gumbo cornered by the tree and was being fed fish. After Roux ‘s crop became really big, Gumbo slowly moved along the rails and went next to the parent and was fed fish from 9:19 – 9:26. Gumbo’s crop looked very good. Louis then brought two fish, one at 11:22 and one at 11:52. Anna waited and didn’t feed either of the fish right away. Then she… Read more »

MaryNj me too 😬 it’s a fishing stringer made of nylon the first fish that was brought in our second fish had it on it.. Anna has been trying to move it. Hopefully it gets off of Roo and she’s able to get it out of the nest or bury it like she did the other fishing line and bobber🙏🙏🙏🙏 they will not go up and intervene only because the one large limb has a Widowmaker branch that fell against it so there’s no safe way to climb without the possibility of that branch falling down that’s the only side… Read more »

Oh, thanks. It may be off of Roux’s wing now. Roux was quite tangled in it. The cord made Roux fall when Roux was trying to bonk Gumbo.

Tina, Are Alex and Andrea the same adults as were there in the E-3 nest last year, or are they new first time parents? I know that Anna and Louis are first time parents.
