Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

It’s the same turkey, she just kept walking in front of me, wouldn’t get off the path. I didn’t want to scare her. The grass is green still no real leaves on the trees

That’s funny, our grasses are still pretty brown, trees are green 🙄

Howdy-do BellaFam  💖
Woke to sun and freezing temps. Had to turn the furnace on around 6a, then went back to bed  😴  All 3 of my front yard trees have their leaves, 1 tree was not happy being so cold overnight; the leaves are all crumpled; they look so sad  😔  It’s already warmed up to 56, so maybe those leaves will survive.
Had cereal for lunch yesterday; my tummy sure does like that Almond Breeze.  😋
Thought these 2 Tundra comics went well together ↓↓

😁 That was some weather change. Not good for the trees, hope it bounces back. I just got through eating Cheerios, blueberries, and Almond Breeze! I like it better than milk on Cheerios.

Hi Pam, The tree is protecting its leaves by stop putting moisture into them its reacting to the cold.It can loose leaves and they will come back when the tree knows the cold is gone. It does hurt fruit trees because the cold kills the blosooms-we will get in the 20’s fruit trees are blooming so we might have a bad Apple and Cherry crop this year

Thanks for this Julie — i know practically nothing about trees 😔 Hoping the fruit-tree farmers in Palisade had enough time to position the tree-heaters to protect them. 🙏

Rescuers are trying to rescue 2,000 beagles from a breeding facility in wisconsin-the dogs are sold to facilities that do experiments on them this just happened here, They are trying to negotiate the release of 100 dogs, The place is called Ridglan Farms if you want to look it up

That is awful. I thought this can of experiments was illegal now, especially dogs. 100 dogs is a start but there are 2k.

It was suppose to happen tomorrow that the rescuer’s were meeting up to get the dogs, These dogs are sold to places all over the USA. This place has to close by July1st because of animal cruelty charges-they will try to sell the dogs they have before July dead line. Any remaining ones will be euthanized. They won’t give the dogs to rescues. People just want to save their lives

This just made me sick. I couldn’t keep reading. They chose eagles because they are small, docile, allow researchers to do invasive things to them.

They did surgeries on them at the facility no anesthesia either. Poor dogs and living in cages almost to small to turn around. There are people who want the dogs. The last I heard just moments ago is that they want to buy the dogs and save them from being sold to Labcorp, TRS Labs,University of Wisconsin, Illinois Institute of Technology, Merck Animal Health.

They also would use Greyhounds for research, because their hearts are the same size as humans, these dogs were taken from race tracks and sold for research, when the dog was retired performing for humans , it was tortured by humans😪

Good afternoon…went to a garage sale (bought a few children’s books) and to dog class (Bane)…later we have to stop by a friend’s house to help her with something, take the hammock to the laundromat and go to the grocery store while it’s washing…it’s cold and windy.

You always cram a lot into the day Lynn. Glad you are ok after all the storms. They showed a town I think probably isn’t too far from you on the news last night. Started with an L. It isn’t very far from Madison either.
