Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Okay girls. I was just talking to Rick about the fruit from the palm trees. Rick said it’s called seed pods and they drop in the ground and this is what grows. Rick said he’ll have to take appliers to pull them all out
One more picture
Tiny saplings! 🥰
It grows more palms, you should grow one Ardyth😍
😍
You could sell them😘
I have been to Ouray Colorado and flew into Montrose, and there’s a fire there its such a beautiful place😍I worry for all the ELK
Me too. Lots of wildlife everywhere.
My brother who died owned a house in Ouray, we had wonderful times there
Aw . . . Special memories with Micheal. Hopefully it will be spared. 🌹
Mom and the DBs lived in Montrose for about 15 years.
I love Ouray, one of the most beautiful places in Colo
I hope it doesn’t burn Pam
Me too Julie 😔
Agreed.
Colorado is burning up! Pam, you are closer than me right now. 😰 I hope u don’t have to evacuate. I am praying hard. 🙏 Never seen it this bad before. There must be 8 fires now. North, South, all over the place — not like one spread, they’re mostly separate. We are a tinder box right now. 😢😟
Thanks Karen; it’s extremely concerning.
🙏
Thanks Ardyth 💖
I would be pulling my hair out!!
Oh dear Karen how close is it to you?
Last I heard, about 50-80 miles away, depending on which fire it is. There are 11 fires now.
Our house in Pueblo was on the Mesa; where that fire is headed.
Oh how sad, Pam. How long did you live there? Areas around Pueblo seem to be getting hit hard. The wind is not helping either. I have family in Walsenburg and Trinidad. Been checking on them.
We were there 4 1/2 years. All those farms; if those fires reach that, they’ll lose everything.
Oh Karen 🙏 for your family
Sad. Is that where the watermelons are grown or where you live now?
Chilies, tomatoes, pumpkins, peppers, onions, and MORE
Where you live now. What about those watermelons that you said were so good?
Thank you Pam. Such a rough time. I am praying for everyone who might be affected. I really have never seen this big of a threat here before, from all angles!
Oh dear that must be hard to see.
Just so sad, you always give everyone hugs Pam here’s one for you
Thanks Julie ♥♥
😘
What exactly is “Mesa”. Is it an area or a town or a type of terrain. I saw the word associated with Pueblo but couldn’t figure out if it is a part of Pueblo or a separate thing. I think I also saw there is a Pueblo County.
Flat land, where a lot of the major farms in Colo are located.
Ok thanks Pam. So a type of terrain.
Is it coming toward you?
I can’t tell what any of them are doing. But I haven’t heard any warnings for Colo. Spgs. or Fountain. But the winds keep shifting.
I hope it stays away.
Yes, definitely. Don’t know if I could handle something like that at my age.
😫
The large animals have been evacuated to the State Fairgrounds; on the far west side of Pueblo. 🙏 Opposite to the fires
Oh good. That’s a relief.
oh good
Theres also a place to take small animals too😘
Tree trimmers came at 7-30 am. They worked efficiently and cleaned up well but there was some sweeping to do on the patio. Did some laundry…back hurts so taking it easy.
How long did it take them?
About 2 hours, Kevin climbed the two trees and the other guys took the palm frawns out to their truck with the roll-off.
So they take down all the fronds? You can see just how big with the man on the tree.
Wow!! I didn’t know they cut those things off. And the trees are huge. The guy on the right looks like a happy camper. Great pictures. 😊Thanks.
Rest your back Ardyth, sweeping always bothers mine too
I am and just applied my back cream.
Perfect😘
It is helping.
Wonderful its nice when you get releif from the pain so you can relax😘
That sounds really good and comforting, Ardyth.
Glad you got that done and without too much cleanup. Good you are taking it easy.
It wasnt much. Rick did rake and pick up the piles of leftover berries when they left. But i saw the guy picking up individual fruit that was in the street and then they blew the street off too.
Sounds like good people.
So will the guy do anything with the fruit that he picked up? Like eat it or use it as decoration, etc?
it all goes to the dump
Oh, hmmmm
Does the dump have palm trees😂
The trees will be so healthy now they’ve been cut back 🌴
They hang down and get in our way in two years and SO much fruit at the top that falls too.
Before and after
OMy, they do look lovely; so neat and tidy 😘
They look so bare right now and no shade now but they grow new fronds faster than you think……
They did a good job😍 do you leave the fruit for the animals?
No, the animals dont eat it. Our last Nikki used to eat it….lol The birds peck at it…Rick wanted it gone cuzzz it drops on the ground and there are a lot of them
Thats weird you think the birds would like the fruit, it does look like there was a lot are-they soft sticky?have you eaten one if so what do they taste like?
No I have not tried them…they are messy when they fall, Rick rakes them up
It says you can eat them but depends on what kind of palm
These arent dates…… A lady came out a long time ago because she wanted the dates when she got here she told Rick they’re not dates they’re fruit and she didn’t want em they weren’t any good
Theres a kind that looks like the fruit you have and it tastes like Pineapple and apricots its suppose to make great jam
Yep, they are happy. 😄
Theres a live on the Colorado fires now they are giving out info
Can only fight the fire by air and its to windy for the plains, 100 mph gusts of wind said they might close the interstate
San Isabel National Forest looks bad. My favorite fishing spot.
I just saw San Isabel on the map😃
It is so beautiful.
Well, San Isabel used to be 😔
Yeah. 😰
Can’t help but think about all the water drowning those poor people in Kentucky and no way to get the water here to contain the fires. We’re supposed to be reasonably intelligent humans, why can’t a water pipeline be installed the same way oil pipelines are? 😠
Theres not enough water to do that unfortunately, places in Kentucky were in bad drought-its the amount of water that fell on hard baked ground and it runs off and over welms the rivers
True. Seems like they could find a way to capture it and airlift it to Reservoirs or something.
I think we’re smart enough to do something to take care of fire and drought and flooding situations. Too busy fighting Wars and making money.
Hi Lady Bug🐞the severe doughts caused by global warming, look how its hitting the EU. The earth is drying up, need better water management. How are you where you are?
Hey Butterfly. 🦋 and we need more folks to care. Not drop out of global warming planning.
Amen.
Been in and out today put fresh water in the bird baths and had to pick milkweedleaves or the Monarch babies they are getting big. Its to hot to take Jade outside she’s laying on the floor like a cat puddle all stretched out
Just do the essentials, like Jade! Take care of all the babies including you.
