Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Another hot/windy summer day; didn’t sleep well last night; did get a good nap earlier this afternoon. Chuck mowed early this morning.
Watching the news; the Fires are still front and center.
Glad Julie had such a good time yesterday/last night.

When its this hot Pam, grass doesn’t grow it goes dormant goes into survival mode. Cows give us so much, makes me feel bad that we eat them

That is really hard for you with such high temps. Humidity makes hot nearly impossible! Some jobs just need to be postponed.

It depends also what you are doing and for how long, pick and chose what you are going to do is wise, and don’t over do it heat illness accumulates in your body, it takes a long time to recover from it

Yes the old saying “never put off until tomorrow what can be done today” in not true in this situation. I can see the need to prioritize. We are nice today, you would like it. Cloudy, 78, 70% humidity.

They are talking on CNN about the diarrhea and parasite. Neither WI nor AZ are in the worst area. but 30 states have some. Illinois and KY are in the worst states.

Yes but they say it is human feces! Have they linked deaths directly to this, or just extreme sickness. I would imagine some already compromised people have really struggled.

A guy on CNN said it. I was surprised. Sounds like maybe an over flowing septic system or something similar got into the water. Maybe a broken sewer line. Who knows. Maybe farm laborers pooping in the fields! Who knows.

It can come from fertilizer used on the fields, can’t blaime it on farm laborers we don’t have any
