Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

I felt bad for DH tonight..he was so tired, he hurt his back lifting his dad last night…and today his dad has been sick…he dreaded going there…
I went for a walk, love summer evenings…in for the night, maybe I’ll read.

Aw . . . Your poor DH, Lynn. I hope you have found a good book and enjoy it. 🤗 Glad you enjoyed your walk. I would have driven. 🤣

Oh Lynn I feel for your husband. Taking care of a parent is no easy job, especially with a full time job, rentals, volunteering for the cemetery. I don’t know how he does it. He didn’t need his back hurt on top of all of it.

Hello…DH wanted to go to a couple stores but we didn’t…he worked at home and the cemetery and no sleep last night, so was tired..we had hamburgers tonight. I’m thinking of going for a short walk before it gets real dark.

Good evening. 🥰 Not really up to talking or anything. Story of the day — been hot. Been trying to not move very much, just wilting. Spent a lot of time sitting in front of a/c, but once I get hot, that doesn’t help much. I look like a beet! Not complaining, just the facts. Going to cut some watermelon. 😋

Hi Karen. Hope your watermelon is better than the one I cut up today. Sorry you have been so hot. Maybe the watermelon will help cool you down.

Put your head over the sink and pour water over the back of your neck/head; you’ll cool down quickly and it’ll last longer than 5 mins. 💗

That’s wonderful, so happy it’s working for you {{HUGS}}
When i was a kid, we didn’t have a shower, so pouring cold water while hanging our head over the sink was an everyday occurrence

Are you cooled down now? I hope so. Seems everyone I know is really struggling with heat. We have been lucky today. Our high was somewhere in the low 80’s, but humidity mid 70%. We will heat up later in the week, I think mid-week. If we decide to put on AC, it is strong enough to be comfortable, especially with fans on. We haven’t used AC yet this season.

I hope it stays tolerable for you guys, Debbie. I know it can really get hot down south. And humid. I would literally die without air conditioning. It’s been 93 here most days. Too hot for Colorado! I won’t move though.

Checking back in trying to figure out what to make for dinner? I have just been laying low taking it easy and staying hydrated as much as I can. Heat just makes me feel sick, I was even dizzy for a bit laid down had a nap don’t feel much better. I should go out and water the garden but I’n dreading that I have to take the trash out, I will wait till it gets dark out. That’s been my day

When heat make you sick/dizzy; pour cold water over your head or stand in a cool shower. it will quickly lower your body temp.

Oh dear Julie, I don’t know what works for you. Can you turn your AC a little cooler? You need a big Slushy. That is as cold as it gets and hydrates too. Turn on your sprinkler for the garden. You are 85 degrees right now. The air quality is just fair, that could be some of it.

I get that way, too, even though I love summer..I wear a cooling thing around my neck that you keep in the freezer or hold a really cold water bottle on my neck, and of course drink it too.
